Dr Stephen Persson is a specialist gastroenterologist with over 20 years experience. After training in Sydney, Australia & Auckland he returned from a postgraduate fellowship in interventional endoscopy & ERCP at one of Europe’s premier endoscopy units in 1998 to accept a consultant post at Middlemore Hospital.
He is one of the interventional endoscopists at MMH performing advanced endoscopic & ERCP procedures including stent placements, enteroscopies, palliative tumour debulking, endoscopic removal of large polyps/early cancers, etc.
He performs private endoscopies at Ormiston Hospital and Endoscopy Auckland. He has subspecialty interests in pancreaticohepatobiliary disorders, difficult abdominal pain & functional bowel disorders (IBS, etc) has extensive experience & expertise in dealing with reflux and other peptic disorders, coeliac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal malignancies & fatty liver disease.
