The ear clinic uses “micro suction” under direct vision
using a high powered operating microscope and gentle low pressure
suction. The microscope allows us to examine the delicate structures of
the ear canal and ear drum in detail which ensures safe and effective
cleaning, as well as giving assurance about the health of the ear.
Micro suction can be safely used in children and people with
perforated ear drums, and on those who have had surgery or infections.
- Our Ear Nurse is ACC accredited. Those clients with ACC hearing
aids for “noise induced hearing loss” can visit the clinic free of
charge (4 x per year if necessary).
casual patients are welcome and can self-refer by phoning 09 237 0280
for an appointment. You do not have to be a registered patient of
Pukekohe Family Health Care.
- Referrals will be made to your GP or Specialist after discussion, if/when necessary.
- War Veteran/Pension – visits for eligible clients are free. Claims are made directly to Veteran Affairs.
- Ear syringing, as a method to clean out the ears, is no longer a recommended procedure and is not available in the clinic.
